The Council of Indigenous Peoples (CIP) announced the survey result of the indigenous peoples’ employment in the 3rd quarter of 2016 (September of 2016). The number of indigenous labors reaches 261,107 with labor force participation rate of 61.01%. The quantity of employment is 250,662, increasing by 5,270 compared to that in June, 2016. And the total unemployment is 10,445 with unemployment rate of 4.00%, increasing by 353 compared to that in June, 2016. The unemployment rate has increased by 0.05% from the previous quarter which is due to the influence of the year’s graduates constantly joining the workforce. These first-time job seekers have not yet being involved into steady employment situation for the sake of business recession or discontinuation, their dissatisfaction toward the original jobs, or the end of seasonal or temporary work. Therefore, the increase of unemployed population is slightly higher than that of employed population. However, it decreases by 0.27% from the same period last year and has 0.01% higher than the 3.99% of the national unemployment rate in the same period.

According to the survey of this quarter (September), the income of the indigenous paid employee is generally 30,280 per month, increasing by 305 from 29,975 in Jun, 2016.

CIP will continually facilitate the unemployed to grasp employability skills, to choose proper jobs and to stabilize their income. Currently it has built the Santoli service platform for the indigenous people’s employment, set the JOB indigenous human resource network (http://iwork.apc.gov.tw) and the 0800-066995 indigenous employment service special line as well as the indigenous employment service specialists in various places who provide services such as employment counseling, career training introduction and job match-making to help indigenous people adapt to the employment environment. Our indigenous people are welcomed to make full use of the above.
