In order to develop the agricultural products with the features and advantages of indigenous peoples, the Council of Indigenous Peoples intends to assist the corporations or farmers organizations in undertaking the friendly farming cultivation and management course and guiding indigenous people to complete relevant validation procedures. Moreover, it will conduct research and development of processing facilities (equipment) for the special and major commercial crops of indigenous peoples so as to increase the production capacity of the tribes and refine the agricultural products. The government continues to carry on the Friendly Farming Value-added Promotion Plan of Indigenous Peoples in 2017. Organizations, co-operatives and production-sale groups which are willing to participate in the agriculture value-added promotion development should send the relevant documents to CIP for examination and approval before March 3rd, 2017.

The application of subsidy for the Friendly Farming Value-added Promotion Plan of Indigenous Peoples is divided into Transforming Type and Value-added Type. The Transforming Type is for those who belong to the traditional agriculture but have will to participate in the friendly farming like organic agriculture, natural agriculture or pesticide-free agriculture; Value-added Type is for those who have already engaged in friendly farming and aim at the secondary processing, the tertiary marketing or the research and development of facility and technology.

CIP notes that the cultivation techniques of organic agriculture at present is still focusing on the primary production with small segmentation in the market. And due to the insufficient processing equipment, it is in disadvantaged situation in the aspects of quantitative production as well as processing and packing. Based on the above, there is still not a complete organic agriculture industry chain. Through the Friendly Farming Value-added Promotion Plan of Indigenous Peoples, CIP assists to enhance the production equipment of indigenous peoples, establish multiple marketing channels and fill in the manpower gap of organic agriculture in the indigenous people’s neighborhood.

The Friendly Farming Value-added Promotion Plan of Indigenous Peoples in 2017 has started to accept application with deadline on March 3rd, 2017. For relevant information and announcement, please visit our website (http://www.apc.gov.tw). We hope more people in the indigenous people’s neighborhood who are willing to participate in the organic agriculture can submit applications to join the organic agriculture.
