The Council of Indigenous Peoples cooperates with Taiwan Railways Administration(TRA), MOTC this year(2016) on a special train plan of an in-depth trip to the indigenous peoples’ tribes, dubbed ”A Trip to the Heart of Tribe”. The painted train will make its debut on Saturday, 23rd April. There will be six tour packages to tribes in Hua-lien and Tai-tung. The train will provide 236 seats in 6 carriages, shuttling on weekends. In addition to traditional performance of singing and dancing, there are 3 tour packages to ‘Two-Day Trip to “A Tribe as Passionate and Heartwarming as the Sun” – Cawi Tribe’ and so on, and display of tribal agricultural products and handicrafts to share with you. What’s more, starting from now until the end of May, there is a promotion for the Month of Mother’s Day to go with the painted train debut. Everyone who takes the painted train to experience “A Trip to the Heart of Tribe” has a chance to win a free package tour. There is never a better time than now to experience the tribal tour.

MayawDongi, chairman of the Council of Indigenous Peoples indicates that most of the indigenous tribes locate in remote areas, making promoting tribal tourism difficult because of traffic inconveniences, etc.. In an attempt to solve the traffic congestion problems, Council of Indigenous Peoples cooperated with TRA on a pilot plan of a Tzu Chiang Express for tribal tours, “A Trip to the Heart of Tribe”. The results turned out great, so in order to continue the plan for the fruitful results, we ran a painting competition on painted train through TRA again this year and invited Yan-ling Shih(Abi Yiyong) Truku tribe, the author of the winning piece “It’s not here yet? What the….!!” to share his creating concept and thoughts in hopes of drawing more tourists to experience the rich cultures of tribes so as to develop tribal tourism development of indigenous peoples and benefit indigenous people through providing touring services.

In the future there will be a Puyuma Express with a capacity of 80 seats, shuttling in between under the condition that it will not affect the pristine appearance of tribal life and traditional ceremonies, and we will invite you to experience the yearly Harvest Festival of indigenous peoples in Hualien and Taitung and a rich and colorful tour to the indigenous people’s traditional cultures.
