The “Characteristic Road Improvement Scheme for Indigenous Peoples’ Tribes” and “Sustainable Development Scheme for Indigenous Peoples’ Tribes” were carried out by Council of Indigenous Peoples in 2016 with budgets of NTD 447,000,000 and NTD 172,800,000, respectively and achievement rate of 93.68%. The “Year-end Assessment Ceremony for Public Works for Indigenous People Area in 2016” was hereby held on March 17, 2017 in Taoyuan County Indigenous Culture Center for the purpose of rewarding local governments and colleagues’ dedications and efforts!
In order to encourage local governments to improve executive performance of public works, the projects and authorities with impressive performances at the public works execution in Indigenous Peoples Areas in 2016 were selected by the Council of Indigenous Peoples as award winners. There were 4 awards at the ceremony in total, including “Outstanding Authorities for Characteristic Road Improvement Scheme for Indigenous Peoples’ Tribes,” “Outstanding Authorities for Sustainable Development Scheme for Indigenous Peoples’ Tribes,” “Projects with Outstanding Appraisal Results in Indigenous Peoples’ Areas in 2016” and “Construction Companies and Contractors with Excellent Performance at Public Works in Indigenous Peoples Areas in 2016.”
Chairman of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Icyang．Parod stated that distinct from other constructions, public works of Indigenous Peoples were characterized by remoteness, short of base project related literacy and ,manpower which were commonplace for local governments. In consequence, apart from more care and efforts it required when responsible personnel promoted various projects compared with other common ones, the comments from tribes should also be respected when the projects were planned and designed and took the original features of tribes and local demands as design priorities. By so doing, the local Indigenous Peoples’ cultures would be able to integrate and catch tribal attributes, and the construction projects can grow with tribes as well. The Council of Indigenous Peoples will continue to work with local governments to seek well-being for Indigenous People to its fullest!
