KAHABU Peoples Donated the Cultural Books to the Council of Indigenous Peoples Expecting to Carrying forward Cultural Spirits and Vitality

The curtain of opening ceremony of special exhibition [Speak for the Local Peoples-- I’m KAHABU] co-organized by KAHABU Culture and Education Association of Nantou County (hereinafter referred to as KAHABU Culture and Education Association), Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Resource Center, Council of Indigenous Peoples (hereinafter referred to as Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Resource Center) and National Taiwan University inaugurated a exhibition at the 1st floor of NTU Library today (11th). In the exhibition, KAHABU Culture and Education Association especially donated the cultural books to the Council of Indigenous Peoples and the Chairman of the Council IcyangParod also extended his sincere gratefulness for the generous donations, expecting to inherit and carry forward the cultural spirits and vitality of the Indigenous Peoples.

The exhibition presented the historical contexts and cultural life of KAHABU Peoples by displaying the historical literature, photos and the books independently published by the member of KAHABU Peoples and conducted seminars in Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Resource Center during the exhibition period (Nov. 11-Dec. 15, 2017) and the KAHABU Culture and Education Association and relevant scholars will be present at the seminars. The interactions, connections and dialogues regarding historical literature and researches will be carried out from the perspective of ethnic group, thus discussing the culture, history, language, belief, arts and other issues together.

The Chairman of the Council IcyangParod stated that in recent years, the Council has been continuing to invest in the resources to support the culture and language preservation and inheritance of Pingpu Indigenous Peoples subject to the relevant cultural and educational policies, thus promoting the self-identity and cohesive forces of the ethnic groups. Moreover, the Chairman also emphasized that Taiwan is a multicultural nation and attention from all fields of the society shall be paid to the history and cultural stories of the ethnic groups and the Council would spare no efforts in keeping promoting the businesses related to the Indigenous Peoples.
