The Town Chief of Biratori, Hokkaido in Japan, Chuanshangman Led a Delegation to Visit the Council of Indigenous Peoples

The Town Chief of Biratori, Hokkaido in Japan, Chuanshangman led delegation, 8 people, to visit the Council of Indigenous Peoples in the afternoon on Nov. 8th. received The Chairman of the Council, Icyang·Parod was welcome the delegation. They exchanged ideas about the organizational and functional operation of the Council, policy promotion and other issues.

The Chairman of the Council, Icyang·Parod demonstrated that he went to Japan to investigate the Ainu Peoples cultures and its economic development. Moreover, he also headed for Biratori, Hokkaido was warmly welcomed by the Town Chief, Chuanshangman and the whole staffs in the town office. Apart of trip from visiting the museums, arts museums and historical museums, the Chairman also understanding the cultural assets preservation and local economic investment by the explanation of the Town Chief in terms of the Ainu Peoples cultures and economic status which left him very memorable and wonderful experience. In October of 2017, Icyang·Parod also assigned the Director and Secretary, Ye, Yue-Chin lead a delegation to visit Biratori for experience exchanging with respect to tomato economic industry, which benefit us a lot.

The Town Chief of Biratori, Chuanshangman also expressed that the delegation was composed of personnel committing to reviving the Ainu Peoples cultures, professors from Hokkaido University, expecting to conduct an international communication with respect to the Indigenous Peoples. Apart from visiting the Council of Indigenous Peoples, they were also arranged to visit the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Park and Sandimen Tribe nearby, to have a field observation of the local experience of the tribe. The parties exchanged their insights into the development of arts and tourism industries and taken the investigation results back to Japan, expecting to provide a broader vision and reference.

The Chairman of the Council, Icyang·Parod further demonstrated that frequent interactions have been mentioned between the Council and Japan, either in the field of culture, academy and policies for Indigenous Peoples, thus facilitating the mutual sharing and instruction. In addition, since Aug. 1st, the President made an apology to the Indigenous Peoples on behalf of the government, the historical justice and transformation justice projects have been carried out vigorously, thus promoting the policies of Indigenous Peoples to march towards a new milestone. The Council was highly affirmed by Japan and it extended the wish of mutual interactions, thereby exerting positive impacts on the policies towards Ainu Peoples and assisting the International Indigenous Peoples Community to establish a cultural-friendly space.
