Icyang, the Director of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, Went to Yuli Town, Hualien County to Explain the Subsidies

In order to make tribal leaders and indigenous people in Yuli Town, Hualien County understands the subsidy situation of the Scheme initiated by the Council, the Director of the Council, Icyang. Parod led colleagues and the Council members to explain to the Mayor, the leader, indigenous people and public representatives, and had a discussion.

Director Icyang expressed that President Tsai, Ing-Wen attached great importance to the promotion of long-term care for Indigenous Peoples. In April 2017, when the Director convened the meeting between the Council and the Health and Welfare Department, he specially instructed that more fund should be invested in the establishment of Culture & Health Station by the Council and raised the salary of the attendants from NT $27,000 to NT $33,000. Credited to the salary rise, we encouraged the indigenous people who worked outside to return to their hometown and work as attendants, cultivated the local professional attendants, implemented government’s policy of promoting long-term care to promote employment and stabilized the care service for elders. At the same time, to improve the facilities and environment of the Culture & Health Station, the Director budgeted for subsidies, especially for forward-looking infrastructure projects.

The education, culture, economic development, social welfare and public construction needed by the tribe were all important policies and promotion businesses of the Council, according to the Director of the Council. From 2016 to now, the Council had subsidized a total of NT $162.72 million for Yuli Town, Hualien County, to promote the handling of festival and ritual activities, the marketing of Yuli rice, the construction of Culture & Health Stations, the improvement of public facilities and the maintenance of infrastructures, and would continue to promote the cultural rejuvenation, economic development and infrastructure improvement required by the tribe to create safe and beautiful home.
