The 1st Misa Kani’ Manual Brewing Festival of Fakong Tribe, Amis in Hualien was themed at “Drink Magnificent and Tasteful”. In order to continue and strengthen the manual brewing technique of Misha Kane’ of Fakong Tribe and to reappear its charm, the 2nd Festival was grandly held today (9th) in Fengbin National Primary School of Hualian County. Icyuan Parod, Director of the Council of Indigenous Peoples, came to congratulate personally and hoped that the good habit of drinking by the Amis would help the public to understand the drinking method of the Amis in daily life and the sacred significance of drinking in Qataban, so as to promote the fine drinking culture of the Indigenous Peoples.

According to the Director Icyang of the Council, wine brewing was very important for the cultural shaping of the Indigenous Peoples in Fengbin Township, Hualien County. From the past, women’ different wine brewing technologies for the sacrifice and Qataban formed the diversity and content of wine brewing in Fengbin Township. Through cultural inheritance, recording wine brewing methods, and supporting the wine brewing industry of each tribe, the culture of planting and collection of the whole primary industry was linked to form a cultural industry value-added model with culture and industry.

Director Icyang further said that the first wine brewing festival had achieved fruitful results, which had made wine brewing culture gradually valued. In order to continue the inheritance of wine brewing culture, the Council would spare no efforts to continue to support the activities of wine brewing culture. At the same time, in September of this year, the Council also approved the “Preliminary Planning of the Amis Wine Brewing Culture Demonstration Area in Fengbin Township.” Through this plan, we would reshape the traditional brewing culture, combine with the complete industrial chain of the traditional planting, collection and traditional plants of the Amis, construct the Amis Wine Brewing Culture Demonstration Area in Fengbin Township, and create opportunities for attracting the youth of Indigenous Peoples to return to their hometown, so as to achieve the objectives of sustainable inheritance of wine brewing culture, industrial improvement and cultures.
